Malware and Spyware
Malware (short for “malicious software”) is software that has been created for the purpose of doing harm. Malware includes viruses and spyware.
Criminals create appealing web sites, desirable downloads, and compelling stories to lure you to links that will download malware, especially on computers that don’t use adequate security software. Then, they use the malware to steal personal information, send spam, and commit fraud.

Identity Theft
Each year, more than 10 million Americans have their personal information -- including name, social security number, bank account or credit card number -- stolen. Often times, thieves use this information to open phony credit card, bank or utility accounts.
Unfortunately, identity theft can have a far reaching and disastrous impact on victims - preventing them from purchasing a home or even getting a job - and those who fall prey often face an uphill battle to restore their good name.
